In the spirit of the Valentine’s season Royal Executive Transportation is bringing you a few of the most romantic limo moments in movie history. They’re the types of scenes that pull at even the most cynical person’s heartstrings and get them rooting for the happy Hollywood ending.
Pretty Woman
Possibly the most iconic limo moment of all the romantic comedies ever made. In the final scene of Pretty Woman Edward (Richard Gere) goes to great lengths to win Vivian (Julie Roberts) back by becoming the modern day version of a knight in shining armor on a white steed. The scene also invokes the classic Romeo and Juliet balcony exchange, which sets the young lovers’ romance in motion.
Dave
Dave is a regular guy that’s gotten roped into impersonating the president for the greater good. A team prepares him for the job, but they can’t prepare him for the glimpse he gets of the First Lady’s long legs during a limo ride. It’s the beginning of a genuine attraction that carries throughout the film.
Lost in Translation
While being chauffeured to the airport Bob (Bill Murray) spots Charlotte (Scarlet Johansen), a young woman that he’s made a connection with while working and soul-searching in Tokyo. He immediately jumps out and chases her down through the busy streets. After a long, quiet look Bob whispers something inaudible in teary-eyed Charlotte’s ear, gives her a kiss goodbye then walks back to his town car without another word.
Valley Girl
When a guy from the wrong side of the tracks falls hard for a golden girl sparks are sure to fly. The young couple played by Nicholas Cage and Deborah Foreman fight against the odds, and her prom date Tommy, before riding off together in Tommy’s rented limo. Once they’ve made their escape she symbolically throws her former boyfriend’s ID bracelet out the window as they are chauffeured to the Sheraton hotel.
Secret of My Success
The Secret of my Success: The Limo Scene
While not the most romantic scene, it is a great example of fatal attraction. Michael J. Fox’s character Brantley picks up a well-to-do woman that’s just found out her husband’s cheating yet again. Brantley makes the mistake of complimenting her looks, which causes her interest to switch from complaining to preforming a montage of not so subtle turn-ons attempts. During the hilarious exchange the limousine is as much a part of the scene as the two characters.
